Manufacturing Engineer / Assistant Manufacturing Manager Opportunity – Chemical Manufacturing Industry

Our client is an established multinational organisation within the chemical manufacturing sector, supporting industrial operations across regional markets. They are currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer / Assistant Manufacturing Manager to support plant operations, process optimisation, equipment reliability, and engineering improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
• Compulsory: Minimum 5 years of experience within the chemical manufacturing / process industry
• Candidates without chemical industry experience will not be considered
• Strong technical experience in:
• Manufacturing process optimisation and production efficiency improvement
• Equipment reliability, maintenance coordination, and asset performance enhancement
• Preventive and corrective maintenance planning
• Root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and equipment performance improvement
• Plant utilities and facility systems management
• CAPEX / engineering project execution including equipment installation and plant upgrades
• Continuous improvement methodologies (Lean / Kaizen / 5S / process excellence)
• Spare parts planning and maintenance cost control
• Safety, environmental, and plant regulatory compliance
• Audit preparation, engineering documentation, and compliance reporting
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements involving DOE, DOSH / JKKP, BOMBA, and plant operational safety compliance
• Proven analytical, project coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple operational priorities in a manufacturing environment

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Improvement

• Review and improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and product quality
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across plant operations using structured improvement methodologies
• Monitor operational performance indicators and implement improvement actions where required
• Support production teams in troubleshooting process and equipment-related issues

Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities for plant equipment and utility systems
• Drive equipment reliability improvements through structured root cause analysis and maintenance initiatives
• Maintain maintenance schedules, equipment records, and engineering documentation
• Support spare parts planning and maintenance expenditure optimisation

Facility & Utility Management

• Oversee plant utilities and facility systems to ensure stable and efficient operations
• Coordinate facility repairs, upgrades, and plant improvement activities
• Ensure facilities and engineering systems comply with operational and safety standards

Engineering Projects & CAPEX

• Lead or support engineering projects including equipment installations, production line improvements, and plant enhancement works
• Coordinate vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project execution meets timelines and budget expectations
• Support technical proposal preparation, specifications development, and project justifications

Compliance & Regulatory Support

• Support plant compliance with environmental, safety, and operational regulations
• Participate in audits, inspections, and implementation of corrective actions
• Ensure engineering activities align with internal operational standards and regulatory requirements
• Support compliance matters involving relevant authorities including environmental, occupational safety, and fire safety requirements
